BRIAN WILSON

Brian Wilson was undoubtedly one of Triskel’s finest scoops to finally secure the founding member of the Beach Boys t come and play such an intimate all seated show at the Royal Hall. It was to be the only seated show wedged between festivals on the tour in the UK.

Fans were not disappointed to find Brian performing the Greatest Hits package and with his sort of back catalogue it was simply classic song after classic song!

To date this has been the ONLY Triskel show that we didn’t provide support for but to be frank.Who could? It would have been a very difficult choice despite the fact the local music scene is thriving and bursting with talent. In return for standing ovations we were treated to over 2 hours of classic songwriting from a 9 piece band that replicate the subtle gorgeous harmonies of this classic band

Brian Wilson is one of rock’s most deeply revered figures, a legendary writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most cherished music in rock history. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to call Brian Wilson one of the most influential pop composers of  the last 50 years.

His precocious genius led him to an almost incessant obsessive temperament  in the studio where he sometimes scrapped months of recordings to perfect the sound. He considered the likes of Phil Spector both a mentor and a rival. He was a pioneer and one of the first to use 8-track recording but shunned the stereophonic sound, instead preferring to work in monaural not because he was deaf in one ear but because he believed it gave transferred control from the producer to the listener of the absolute reproduction quality of the sound, and thus destroyed the true meaning of the music and lyrics.
